Directional Thread Reconstruction
This project began as an exploration of embroidery-like structures, but gradually evolved into a study of directional organization and procedural surface reconstruction.
Rather than replicating traditional embroidery techniques or visual styles, the system focuses on how thread-like structures can emerge from guide directions, vector fields, density variation, and layered flow behaviors.
The project combines manually designed directional guides with procedural generation systems to organize continuous linear structures across complex organic forms.
System Workflow
Shape Segmentation
Separate complex forms into directional regions to establish controllable flow across different structural areas.

Directional Guide Design
Design guide curves to define primary movement, local curvature and structural hierarchy, using radial, layered and spiral organizations.

Vector Field Construction
Convert directional guides into continuous vector fields that organize thread movement and local orientation.

Procedural Thread Generation
Advect curves through directional fields to generate layered thread-like formations across the surface.

Surface Reconstruction
Reconstruct image-like surfaces through density accumulation, overlap and directional continuity.
